Granola vs 37signals LLC: Free Credits, Pricing & Eligibility Compared (2026)

Choosing between Granola and 37signals depends on your primary software needs. Granola offers automated, privacy-focused AI meeting notes that run locally on your device without sending a bot to your calls. In contrast, 37signals provides full access to project management and communication tools like Basecamp and HEY for educational users.

Granola vs 37signals LLC: Main Feature Comparison

Granola and 37signals offer completely different categories of software for teams, students, and professionals. Granola provides AI-powered transcripts and meeting summaries, while 37signals produces productivity platforms like Basecamp for team organization and HEY for email management.

Core Capabilities and Target Audience

Granola works by capturing audio directly from your computer standard audio input and output, creating structured notes without needing a visible recorder or bot inside Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams calls. This makes it ideal for founders, recruiters, and consultants who want meeting intelligence without distracting participants.

37signals focuses on project coordination and personal communication. Their student and classroom program allows educational users to run projects, submit assignments, and communicate without paying standard commercial rates. Below is a quick overview comparing both platforms:

Granola AI Free Meeting Access and Usage Limits

Granola provides a simple way to convert conversation audio into structured summaries and action items. The software runs quietly on your desktop, helping you stay focused on the conversation rather than typing manually.

Understanding Granola's Free Allowance

While standard promotional descriptions often mention a initial 25-meeting allowance, Granola's official Basic plan provides open access to free AI meeting transcription. The primary boundary on the basic tier involves note history visibility rather than meeting creation caps.

When using the standard free experience, keep these operational rules in mind:

• Audio Processing: Captures clear meeting notes directly from your local microphone and system audio output.
• History Retention: Free tier accounts display notes from the last 30 days within the desktop application interface.
• Data Security: Keeps meeting recordings private without requiring third-party bot accounts to join your calendar invites.
• Paid Transitions: Upgrading to the Business tier costs $14 per user per month and unlocks custom prompt templates and extended history.

37signals Educational Entitlements for Students

37signals supports educational institutions by offering Basecamp software for organized group collaboration. This initiative allows students and educators to handle coursework and project workflows efficiently.

Claiming Educational Access for Basecamp

The educational promotion is designed to reduce costs for academic groups. Instead of paying monthly user fees, verified classrooms can create team workspaces for collaborative work.

To complete your enrollment smoothy, follow these guidelines:

1. Use your official school-issued email address (ending in .edu or institutional equivalent) during account registration.
2. Provide proof of academic enrollment or teaching status if prompted during the verification stage.
3. Set up your class project spaces inside Basecamp before inviting team members or students.
4. Keep administrative account control linked to an official school address to preserve active free access.
