Mega Limited vs Autodesk: Free Credits, Pricing & Eligibility Compared (2026)

Comparing MEGA and Autodesk is a comparison between two completely different tools: secure cloud file hosting vs professional 3D design and engineering software. MEGA gives anyone 20 GB of zero-knowledge encrypted storage, while Autodesk offers students and educators full access to software like AutoCAD, Maya, and Fusion 360 for one year. Learn how these perks work, who qualifies, and how to get both free tools.

MEGA vs Autodesk: Key Differences and Free Benefits

MEGA offers generic zero-knowledge cloud file storage, whereas Autodesk provides specialized 3D design software for verified academic users. Understanding these key differences helps you pick the right tool for your immediate project needs.

Feature and Allocation Breakdown

MEGA gives you 20 GB of free storage capacity right away without demanding academic credentials or credit card details. You can upload, organize, and share files securely from any web browser or mobile app.

Autodesk supplies a full software access plan worth thousands of dollars per year to eligible users. It gives you raw desktop and cloud engineering power rather than consumer file hosting space.

Autodesk Education Plan: Eligibility and Software Access

Autodesk gives verified students, teachers, and researchers free access to its top design tools. You can create complex 3D models, run engineering simulations, and draft architecture plans without paying standard retail subscription fees.

Who Qualifies and How to Stay Verified

You must be actively enrolled at or employed by an accredited educational institution to unlock Autodesk software. Having a valid school domain or official tuition receipt satisfies verification checks.

The educational license lasts for 12 months. You must submit current proof of academic status every year to maintain uninterrupted access to your design files and desktop applications.

• Requires proof of current student or educator enrollment
• Access automatically expires after 365 days unless renewed
• Includes flagship tools like AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Revit, and Maya
• Files saved in Autodesk Drive remain accessible even if software access pauses

MEGA 20 GB Free Plan: Privacy and Cloud Storage

MEGA focuses on privacy, file protection, and simple cloud backup. It is ideal for founders, solo developers, and teams that need a secure location to back up assets and project files.

Storage Rules and Privacy Mechanics

Every free MEGA account receives zero-knowledge end-to-end encryption. That means only you hold the decryption keys to your files, keeping your intellectual property completely safe from third parties.

The free plan has standard bandwidth limits but does not require a paid trial or credit card. If you exceed 20 GB of data, you can clean up unused files or upgrade to a larger tier whenever necessary.

1. Sign up instantly using any working email address
2. Save your master recovery key in a safe location
3. Upload project backups, assets, and design files directly from your browser
