Scite.ai vs Base44: Free Credits, Pricing & Eligibility Compared (2026)

Choosing between Scite.ai and Base44 depends on whether you need deep academic research analysis or an AI web app generator. Scite.ai provides a 7-day trial and custom academic discounts up to 40%, while Base44 offers a permanent free plan with 5 daily credits and a direct 50% academic discount on paid tiers. Here is how to qualify, claim, and combine these offers.

Scite.ai vs Base44: Student Credits and Pricing Breakdown

Academic researchers and builders often require distinct AI tooling depending on their immediate workflow goals. Understanding how each platform structures its free tier, trial limits, and academic discounts will prevent unexpected billing charges.

Core Offer Comparison

Scite.ai focuses on literature reviews, citation analysis, and smart citation counts. Instead of a permanent free allowance, it offers a 7-day premium trial alongside a negotiated academic discount for students who recommend the tool to their institution.

In contrast, Base44 functions as an AI web development assistant. It gives every account a recurring free allowance of 5 credits per day (25 per month) and offers an instant 50% discount on Starter and Builder plans for verified students and teachers.

Eligibility Rules and Claiming Process

Both services offer reduced pricing for students and faculty, but their verification pipelines are entirely different. Following the correct setup steps prevents account lockouts and ensures discounts apply before any payment is processed.

How to Verify Base44 Student Status

Base44 requires you to verify your identity using an active academic email address before making your first purchase. The academic discount cannot be applied retroactively to previous purchases.

Follow these exact steps to lock in your 50% Base44 discount:

1. Create a free account on Base44 using your primary email.
2. Navigate to the Student Discount verification tab within account settings.
3. Enter your official academic or university email address to receive a one-time passcode.
4. Enter the verification code to activate the 50% discount on your account.
5. Select either the Starter or Builder tier at checkout to confirm the 50% discount applies.

How to Claim Scite.ai Academic Pricing

Scite.ai does not use a direct automated verification portal for its student discounts. Instead, discounts are issued after verifying your academic affiliation through an institutional recommendation process.

To claim your Scite discount:

• Sign up for a standard account and start your 7-day premium trial when ready to test the software.
• Draft an institutional recommendation or referral email to your school library or department chair.
• Send the request while copying both Scite customer support and sales email addresses.
• Wait for the Scite team to review the request and issue your custom academic discount code.
